This past October, my sister-in-law got married at Four Daughters Vineyard in Spring Valley, MN. It was a lovely ceremony, and I feel privileged to have been asked to take part as a bridesmaid.
Lena is the only girl of her family of 6 — can you imagine having 5 brothers?
It was a gorgeous day, and it was so much fun hanging out with extended family that I haven’t seen in a number of years. It was also the first opportunity I’d had to meet my niece, Olivia – my first niece, who I intend to spoil rotten (cause I’m the cool aunt).
There were a number of memorable moments during the day, like walking down the “aisle” in heels (note my white-knuckled grip on poor Maynard’s arm so I don’t fall over).
Some of my favorite moments were the ones that happened quite on accident. For the majority of the day, Persephone was delighting in flashing her Jack ‘o Lantern grin to show off her missing teeth, but somehow this image was captured. This is how I best know my sweet girl.
Of course, much like her mother, Persephone wasn’t shy at all when it came to bustin’ a move on the dance floor. When it came time for the bouquet toss, to everyone’s surprise, she caught it.
Not only that, but she threw it BACK to Lena because she didn’t know she was supposed to keep it.
One of my favorite pictures from the wedding was a quiet moment captured while waiting patiently for the bride’s family group photo. When I happened upon this image in the gallery from the wedding, I couldn’t help tearing up, because it was such a sweet picture of my little Seraphina and I.
It’s amazing the things you forget during hectic family functions, such as weddings. And I am thankful that I have these visual reminders — like little fireflies captured in a glass jar — to lighten my heart and refresh my memory.
